CapRover
CapRover is a scalable self-hosted PaaS with one-click apps, Docker Swarm clustering, automatic TLS, and a friendly web UI for deploying apps and databases in seconds.
CapRover is a scalable, self-hosted PaaS built on Docker and nginx. It positions itself as "Heroku on Steroids," offering a polished web dashboard, a one-click app marketplace with 350+ pre-configured applications, and native Docker Swarm clustering support. Deploy WordPress, Ghost, Grafana, Nextcloud, and more with a single click. CapRover provides automatic SSL, custom domains, and webhook-based deployments, making it an excellent middle-ground option between minimal CLI tools and feature-rich dashboards.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I deploy an app to CapRover?
You can deploy through the web dashboard's one-click apps catalog, run caprover deploy in your repository to upload and build a project, deploy a prebuilt Docker image with caprover deploy --imageName, or set up automatic builds from a GitHub or Bitbucket branch that trigger on push via webhook. Each deployment version is kept, so you can roll back to an earlier image with one click from the dashboard.
What are the system requirements to self-host CapRover?
CapRover needs a Linux server with Docker CE 25 or newer installed, and it is tested on Ubuntu 24.04. A public IP address is required for standard installs so apps can be reached from the internet. 1 GB of RAM is recommended because builds can exceed what 512 MB can handle. Published images target AMD64 and ARM64 processors.
Does CapRover include HTTPS certificates?
Yes. CapRover uses Let's Encrypt to issue free SSL certificates, including wildcard certificates for your subdomains. You need a domain name with a wildcard A record pointed at your server. CapRover can run without a domain, but HTTPS will not be available, and proxying it behind Cloudflare is not officially supported.
Can CapRover scale across multiple servers?
Yes. CapRover runs on Docker Swarm under the hood, so you can attach additional servers as worker nodes to distribute apps across a cluster. nginx handles load balancing between containers, and its template is fully customizable if you need special routing or configuration.
How do I run databases alongside my apps?
The one-click apps catalog includes MariaDB, MySQL, MongoDB, and Postgres, which you install by selecting them from a dropdown in the dashboard. The docs also cover connecting apps to these databases, and CapRover includes backup and restore tooling for app data.
